Matilde Pozzato

Matilde Pozzato - International Affairs

My name is Matilde Pozzato and I graduated from JCU with a B.A. in International Affairs and a minor in Legal Studies. In Spring 2023 I obtained an internship at So Fare Films (SFF) through the Center for Career Services. SFF is a production company and film education program that produces content about diversity, equality and inclusion. At SFF, I had the opportunity to work with different teams, but I was mainly a writer. I interviewed people for the documentaries, wrote the newsletter and blog posts. This internship has given me the opportunity to apply my academic background outside of the University, improve my writing skills, and work with other motivated students. I would recommend this internship to all the students who want to wear many hats during an internship, work in a company that feels like a family, and learn more about producing documentaries.

Emilia Lopez Ortega

Emilia Lopez Ortega - International Affairs

My name is Emilia Lopez Ortega and I am majoring in International Affairs with a minor in Business Administration. In Summer 2023 I obtained an internship through the JCU Center for Career Services, with the International Union of Superior Generals (UISG) in the Department of Catholic Care for Children International (CCCI). Catholic Care for Children (CCC) is an organization of religious sisters that started in Uganda to reduce the number of children in orphanages. My work was to collect documents, classify new information, contact different country coordinators of CCC, and write articles for the website. I also attended trainings that helped me come up with solutions on childcare reform. I also worked closely with other UISG departments focused on human trafficking, safeguarding, and refugees. I would recommend this internship to other students and alumni since it has helped me with my problem-solving, social, and writing skills.

Sofia Ledda

Sofia Ledda - Communications

My name is Sofia Ledda and I am a Communications student. In Spring 2023 I obtained an internship at OK Production through the JCU Center for Career Services. OK Production is a video production company that celebrates the Italian culture and lifestyle. As social media manager, I am in charge of video editing and production. I would recommend this internship because it is a great opportunity to put into practice everything you learn in the Communication classes. Thanks to this opportunity, I have worked closely with experts in the field, and established a network of contacts all over the world. Working at OK Production was an extraordinary experience that made me grow professionally.

Michaela Papavero

MICHAELA PAPAVERO - INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS

In Spring 2022 I had the opportunity to intern at L’Arche - Il Chicco, a community for people with intellectual disabilities. My main task consisted in monitoring the Italian grant system to help Il Chicco implement some of its new projects to improve the wellbeing of the community. I also translated documents, wrote short stories for the newsletter, and helped interview some of the community’s members to make a video for social media. It was a formative and fulfilling experience. It gave me an insight into how a private volunteer organization works, it strengthened my time management skills and flexibility, and increased my productivity. Most of all, this internship gave me the possibility to interact with a different reality, both from a professional and a human perspective. I highly recommend applying for an internship through the Center for Career Services, because it gives you the tools necessary for your academic and professional career.

Art History Society

placeholder

The Art History Society (AHS) is a community of art enthusiasts associated with and supported by the Department of Art History and Studio Art. We engage with all aspects of the arts: creating, curating, excavating, collecting, conserving, studying, publicizing, and educating, in order to enhance the experience of art. We explore the vast material culture of Rome and Italy, and beyond, through a broad range of activities: gallery, exhibition, and excavation visits; public lectures and events; curatorial engagements; community events; as well as through collaborations with international art and research institutes in Rome.

More than just a school. I consider it not an academic education, but life learned. It has stood me in good stead over the years.

John Cabot is more than just a school. At the time it was the heartbeat that kept me connected to a city I had grown to love. I consider it not an academic education, but life learned. It has stood me in good stead over the years.

La Dolce Vita

Living and studying in Rome offered a daily slice of La Dolce Vita romana among a diverse group of multinationals. A friendship of more than 50 years started at JCIC. We met in the fall of 1973 and still today we speak regularly and visit when possible. That really says it all!

Attending courses in Classical Mythology and Fiction Writing gave me a new perspective on how literature is perceived outside of the US. I am very grateful for my time at JCU.

There are so many memories I had at JCU and I will never forget them. However, the one that stands and will be remembered all of my life is when my Dad, Douglas Denby gave me my Diploma in Art History.
