After earning a Laurea degree with honors in Contemporary Italian Literature at the University of Florence, Professor Siddu Pilia moved to New York City where she worked at the Italian Cultural Institute. She then moved on to head the Italian Language School affiliated with Hunter College, NYC, NY. She moved back to Italy in 2002 when she began teaching Italian Language as Adjunct Professor at JCU and in 2013, she became Coordinator of the JCU Foreign Language Resource Center. In 2018, she completed a II level Master's degree in Mindfulness and Neuroscience by discussing a thesis on Leadership and Compassion, and in the same year she obtained a certificate of MBSR and mindfulness-based protocols. In 2021 she obtained a Master of Science (MSc) in Applied Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology at the University of East London, UK. In 2018, Gina Siddu Pilia translated and curated the Italian edition of the book Self-Compassion by Kristin Neff for Franco Angeli Editore.
