Andrea Lanzone is Assistant Dean for Student Academic Affairs at John Cabot University, where he teaches American History. His areas of expertise are Social Anthropology and Social History, Indigenous Peoples Rights, Native American studies, and Refugee and Migration Studies.
After a long journey throughout various Native American reservations in the United States, Professor Lanzone lived in England for ten years, where he earned his doctorate with extensive research on the poor social and medical conditions faced by many American Indian communities of the Northern Plains. Since his first year at John Cabot University (2003), Professor Lanzone has worked in the field of social inclusion and humanitarian aid. Together with his students, he has been working weekly with migrants, refugees and people living on the margins of society for over 15 years.
A volunteer in various centers for the homeless and advisor to the University’s humanitarian organization STAND, Professor Lanzone has always tried to integrate service with the educational experience of his students to support the local community and bring help and protection to people in need. He always reminds his students of Muhammad Ali’s words: “Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.”
