John Cabot University assists students admitted to the program in finding suitable housing in Rome. The cost of housing is not included in the tuition for the degree. Please note, the spaces are limited. Students can enter preferred housing options on the housing application; however, the actual placement may vary based on the availability and the date of submission. Important notice for students with dual citizenship: Please note that you must decide at the beginning of your studies whether your billing currency will be euros or dollars. You will be billed in the same currency for the entire time that you attend JCU.
Disclaimer for students on Health Insurance while at JCU: Unless otherwise noted, if you are a non-EU citizen, you will need to purchase Cultural Insurance Services International (CISI) Health Insurance. If you are an EU citizen, you must have valid health insurance in Italy; we highly encourage you to purchase CISI Health Insurance.
The Graduate Extended Housing Contract is available exclusively to first-year graduate students who wish to remain in JCU Housing continuously from Fall through Spring (late August to early May), without the need to relocate between semesters. All first-year graduate students are automatically enrolled in this extended housing option and may remain in the same apartment through the end of the Spring semester.
To secure housing, students must submit a completed Fall housing application along with combined Fall and Spring deposits totaling $ 2,000 by the Fall application deadline. The remaining Fall balance, including the Winter Break housing fee, is due by the Fall full payment deadline (July 15). Payment of the Winter Break housing fee is required to maintain eligibility for the extended housing contract.
The remaining Spring balance must be paid by the Spring full payment deadline (November 30).

Graduate Summer Housing is an optional add-on for students who are already residing in JCU Housing from Fall through Spring. The summer housing contract allows students to remain in their apartment for an additional seven weeks (Summer I), covering the Spring finals period and the beginning of the summer session. Graduate students who are required to remain on campus beyond the initial seven-week period to complete independent research or a thesis may request an extension of up to five additional weeks (Summer II). Summer housing contracts are not automatically renewed. Students must submit a summer housing application by the specified deadline to secure a space.

Students planning to stay in JCU Housing for both Summer I and Summer II sessions must be enrolled in classes for both sessions and submit separate Housing application and deposit ($ 1,000) for each session by April 30. Graduate summer housing is optional.

The Semester-Based Graduate Housing Contract is designed for second-year graduate students who wish to reside in JCU Housing one semester at a time until they complete their program. To secure housing, students must submit a completed application along with the required deposit by the deadline for their intended semester.
This contract is valid only for the duration of the selected semester or session, and students are required to move out between semesters. Graduate housing is limited, and housing options for second-year graduate students are offered based on availability.

Second-year graduate housing is available only with a semester-based contract. Graduate housing is limited, with priority given to new incoming graduate students starting in the fall. If any housing spaces become available, the Housing Office will promptly notify students, who will then be required to submit either a deposit or full payment, depending on the confirmation date.

Graduate students can also consider alternative accommodations through the third-party provider, Dotcampus. In partnership with JCU Housing, a limited number of Dotcampus’ rooms are reserved for JCU graduate students each semester. The location is well connected with the city’s public transportation.
