Study Communications in Rome
The Communications Department provides an innovative curriculum that combines theory and practice, developing skills for lifelong learning, problem solving, and communication in visual, audio, written and oral formats in an inclusive multicultural world. The Department offers a B.A. and a Minor in Communications.
B.A. in Communications
At JCU, the Bachelor of Arts in Communications is a rigorous, multi-disciplinary program designed to give students the analytical, critical, and creative skills that are fundamental to any career in the digital age. The major provides students with excellent skills in oral, written and multimedia proficiency. The program is dedicated to integrating technology in its instruction and incorporating international contexts for the study of communications, in order to prepare students for a multicultural, globalized communication environment.
Our core curriculum balances theory, practice, dialogue, and creativity, requiring students to study a range of topics and to learn a variety of skills, including writing for the media and multimedia production. The program focuses on students by actively mentoring and working closely with them and student organizations to foster a sense of community and inclusion.
Students graduating from John Cabot University with a B.A. in Communications will have acquired knowledge and skills that will allow them to pursue many different career paths.

Combine Theory and Practice
Required core courses include: Public Speaking; Introduction to Visual Communication; Writing Across the Media; Introduction to Cinema; Foundations of Digital Video; Media, Culture and Society; Digital Media Culture; Advanced Communication Theory; and the Senior Capstone Project. Upon completion of the program, students will have produced a broad range of traditional and innovative academic material including analytical papers about contemporary issues in media (with an emphasis on debates around social, sexual orientation, gender and race inclusivity), research projects, infographics, video essays, press kits, blogs, short videos and e-portfolios.
This major promotes intellectual development and ethical reasoning to empower students
to take leadership roles and make a difference in a variety of fields both within
and outside of the communications industry. Our partnership with The New School in New York City, allows students to jumpstart their careers by pursuing a fast track
to a graduate certificate or Master's in Media Management while attending JCU. In
addition, our agreement with the University of Milan (Università degli Studi di Milano) is the first to offer a dual US B.A./Italian Laurea
The JCU Media Production Facilities support a wide range of audio and video production activities, from screenwriting through principal photography and onward to editing, visual effects, and musical composition. Students, faculty, and staff make use of professional camcorders and cameras, audio recorders, and microphones in order to create beautiful images and immersive soundscapes. You will have access to a Digital Media Lab with a dozen 27" Apple iMacs running Adobe Creative Suite as well as Apple's professional applications (FCPX, Logic Pro X, and Motion), and a fully-equipped TV Studio Lab and TV Studio Control Room.
Paola Di Leo
Paola Di Leo graduated from JCU in 2018 with a B.A. in Communications and a minor in Business Administration. She recently earned her Master’s degree in Media Management from The New School in New York City. Paola won The New School’s ‘Fine Cuts 42nd Annual Invitational Film Show’ with her short film Corona Love Story.
Anna Wulfson graduated summa cum laude in May 2020 with a major in Communications and a minor in Creative Writing. At JCU she also discovered a passion for graphic design and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Visual Design at the Scuola Politecnica di Design in Milan.
Anna Maria Gehnyei
Anna Maria Gehnyei, also known as Karima 2G, graduated in May 2020. A singer, dancer, and producer, through her music she speaks up against injustice and advocates for human rights. She was one of the organizers of the demonstration to express solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement that took place in Piazza del Popolo in Rome on June 7, 2020.

JCU's Career Services Office connects students with hundreds of competitive internships per semester. By taking advantage of these services, students will graduate from college having already completed an internship working in their desired field.
