ENLUS at JCU

How to Apply

The Office of Admissions admits ENLUS students from Italy and across the world. We are looking for students who seek a unique international environment, intensive English language instruction, and who will take full advantage of the opportunities that studying at an American university provide.

Eligibility Requirements

Only applicants with these characteristics will be considered:
  • Applicants with a lower intermediate (A2) knowledge of English;
  • High school graduates aspiring to enter JCU or another English-speaking university;
  • Anyone 18 or older wishing to achieve a high level of English proficiency for business or personal reasons.

The University is open to all applicants without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, sexual orientation, marital or parental status, or disability in any of its policies, programs, and services.

Application Process

Admission to John Cabot's ENLUS program is based on a review of the following items:

  • Completed application form. We accept both our online application and the common application;
  • A 600 word personal essay;
  • $ 50/€ 50 non-refundable application fee. Please note that only U.S. and Canadian citizens may pay in dollars. View our Payment options;
  • Official transcripts of all secondary and post-secondary school work to date: transcripts not in English or Italian must be accompanied by a certified English language translation;
  • Interview by phone, Skype, or in person;
  • Letter(s) of Recommendation or Teacher Evaluation Form. Two for freshman applicants, one for transfer applicants;
  • Evidence of English Language Proficiency: students may also take JCU’s English test for € 25. Please check upcoming test dates.

Please note that candidates are responsible for ensuring that the completed application and all supporting materials reach the University in accordance with our application deadlines. After submitting your application, you may check your application checklist and ultimately view your admissions decision by logging in to our online application.

Tuition, Housing, and Scholarships

A solid grasp of the English language is critical for success at an American university. By participating in ENLUS, students are able to become a part of the John Cabot University community while developing the English proficiency they need to thrive academically in an American university setting.

Tuition and Fees

Books and the student activity fee are included in the tuition fee.

  • PRE-ENLUS and ENLUS I: € 3,000 per semester;
  • ENLUS II: € 3,500 per semester. Eligible students in ENLUS II may take an academic (for credit) course in the areas of mathematics, computer science, fine arts, or Italian for an additional € 900 per semester.

Scholarships

John Cabot University awards a limited number of ENLUS Scholarships on the basis of academic achievement and financial needs. In order to be considered for an ENLUS Scholarship, you must submit a request to your JCU Admissions Counselor by writing to [email protected].

Housing and Meal Plans

ENLUS students who wish to live in JCU housing must be at least 18 years old.Learn more about JCU Housing
