On Friday, September 25, 2026, JCU friends, staff, and faculty gathered in the Don Bosco courtyard of the Guarini Campus to celebrate the naming of the Paula Frohring Wing of the Frohring Library, previously known as the Aurelian Wing.
Guests were welcomed by Head Librarian Livia Piotto, who underlined the importance of libraries in universities as places of discovery and exchange, where students develop curiosity and intellectual independence.
The wing of the library was named after JCU Trustee Paula Frohring, recognizing her “not only as a ceaseless advocate for our library, but also as a supporter of a shared belief in what a library itself makes possible: access to knowledge, equal opportunity for all students, excellence in scholarship, and a welcoming intellectual home for the entire academic community,” Piotto said.
President Antonia Maioni and President Emeritus Franco Pavoncello joined Piotto in thanking Trustee Frohring and her family for their continuous and generous support to the university. Trustee Kristin Finkelstein, Paula Frohring’s daughter, expressed her admiration for her mother and appreciation for having that wing of the library named after her.
Trustee Paula Frohring and her four grandchildren proceeded with the cutting of the ribbon in front of the library, and Vice Chair Trustee Desiderio invited guests to have a toast together to celebrate.
Guests then proceeded to visit the Paula Frohring wing and continued the evening in the Lemon Tree Courtyard for a festive buffet dinner.
