John Cabot University is pleased to welcome over 1,040 new students to its campus in Rome's historic Trastevere neighborhood for the start of the Fall 2026 semester. JCU’s total enrollment is about 1,863, as new and returning students begin the academic year together.
The semester also marks a new beginning for the University's leadership: President Antonia Maioni, who joined JCU on July 1, begins her first academic year at the helm of JCU.
Says President Maioni, “This semester is also a new beginning for me, as my first at JCU. I have spent these past weeks discovering what makes John Cabot so distinctive: our intellectually vibrant community, our international outlook, and our shared commitment to learning both inside and beyond the classroom. As we begin this new academic year together, I look forward to getting to know our community better and to appreciating all that we accomplish together.”
This year's incoming class of degree-seeking students is drawn from 46 countries and nearly all US states, reinforcing JCU's standing as one of the largest American universities in Europe. The cohort spans first-time freshmen, transfer students, freshmen studying abroad, semester and year study-abroad students, and gap-year students — each bringing a different path into the University's international community. The Center for Graduate Studies added to that mix as well, enrolling 14 new students in the MA in Art History and 20 in the MA in International Affairs.
Geographically, the new class reads like a world map: students arrived from Albania, Austria, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Cayman Islands, Colombia, Czechia, Denmark, Ecuador, Finland, France, Germany, Haiti, India, Israel, Italy, Kenya, Libya, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, Montenegro, Morocco, Myanmar, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Oman, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States of America, and Venezuela.
The semester brings a new addition to JCU's academic offerings: the launch of the Bachelor of Science in Computer and Information Science. Grounded in the university's liberal arts foundation, the program takes an interdisciplinary approach to core information science topics, including cybersecurity, information systems, and digital transformation management.
Looking ahead, applications are now open for Spring, Summer, and Fall 2027.
