On November 24, John Cabot University welcomed Dr. Joseph E. Aoun, President of Northeastern University. Located in Boston, Massachusetts, Northeastern is a prestigious research institution with which JCU has maintained a partnership since 2009.
In 2017, JCU became part of Northeastern’s N.U.in program, a special first-year entry pathway in which admitted students spend their first semester abroad at one of Northeastern’s international partner institutions rather than beginning their studies on the main Boston campus.
During his visit, President Aoun met with JCU President Franco Pavoncello, Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and Operations Jose B. Alvarez, and N.U.in Italy Program Manager Louise Kennedy.
VP Alvarez and Ms. Kennedy led President Aoun on a guided tour of JCU’s urban campus in Trastevere, including a stop at the New Campus—home to the Frank J. Guarini Art Center—where he had the opportunity to engage with students in Professor Consuelo Nuñez Ciuffa’s Fundamentals of Architecture class.
President Aoun also visited the Frohring Library, located at the Guarini Campus, as well as the Lungara student housing complex.
President Pavoncello presented President Aoun with an original print by artist Giovanni Battista Piranesi depicting the Colosseum.
“It was a great honor for us to host President Aoun, an internationally known higher education thought leader and renowned scholar in linguistics,” said President Pavoncello. “We look forward to continuing our fruitful collaboration with Northeastern University.”
