This Year's Honorees

Frank J. Guarini & Family

Frank J. Guarini (right) with President PavoncelloBorn and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey, Congressman Frank J. Guarini, Chair Emeritus of the JCU Board of Trustees, has made a lasting impact on John Cabot University through his enduring commitment to education and civic leadership. He studied at Dartmouth College, Columbia University, and New York University School of Law, with advanced studies at The Hague Academy of International Law. During World War II, he served with distinction in the United States Navy, earning the Navy Commendation Medal and three Battle Stars.

After a successful legal career, Frank J. Guarini entered public service, serving two terms in the New Jersey State Senate and seven terms in the U.S. House of Representatives. He has long championed higher education, founding centers and institutes at Dartmouth, NYU School of Law, St. Peter’s University, New Jersey City University, and John Cabot University. He is also Chair Emeritus of the National Italian American Foundation.

Since joining the John Cabot University Board of Trustees in 1995, Frank J. Guarini has been a transformative benefactor. His generosity led to the creation of the Guarini Institute for Public Affairs, the renovation of the Caroline Critelli Guarini Campus, and the establishment of the Frank J. Guarini School of Business. Together with his niece, Carol M. Maurer, who also serves on the Board, they carry the family’s long-standing dedication to the University.

In celebration of his distinguished leadership, extraordinary generosity, and lifelong dedication to the mission of John Cabot University, the University proudly presents Frank J. Guarini and the Guarini Family with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Paula Frohring & Family

The Frohring Family with President Pavoncello (right)Paula Frohring is a cherished Trustee whose steadfast devotion carries forward her family’s remarkable legacy at John Cabot University. Paula Frohring’s parents, Paul and Maxine Frohring, played an instrumental role in the University’s founding and, through the establishment of the Paul and Maxine Frohring Foundation in 1958, became enduring champions of higher education. That legacy has flourished across generations. All four of Paul and Maxine’s grandchildren, Andrew Frohring Geisel, Bliss Frohring Smith, Kristin Frohring Finkelstein, and Philip Frohring Kushlan, have embraced the family’s commitment, while their eight great-grandchildren, Nathan, Foster, Georgia, Lucy, Benjamin, Bronson, Elizabeth, and Wesley, bring youthful energy and joy to the John Cabot campus during their lively visits.

Paula Frohring continues this tradition of service alongside her daughter, Kristin Frohring Finkelstein, with both proudly serving on the University’s Board of Trustees. Through the years, the Paul and Maxine Frohring Foundation has profoundly shaped the University: funding the renovation and expansion of the Frohring Library, supporting scholarships for international students, advancing faculty research, and providing critical aid during the COVID-19 pandemic. In recognition of these extraordinary contributions, John Cabot University renamed the Tiber Campus as the Frohring Campus in 2022.

In celebration of her visionary leadership, boundless generosity, and lifelong dedication to our mission, John Cabot University proudly presents Paula Frohring and the Frohring Family with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
