Professor Maria Bruccoleri started teaching at JCU in 2025. She is an advocate in the Italian Supreme Court and an accounting expert on tax law and criminal tax law. with considerable experience as aconsultant for companies in the fields of tax law, criminal tax law and data protection law. After her law degree, she earned a second laurea degree in International Relations, specializing in “International Trade.” The title of her thesis was “Digital Citizenship, the Estonia case”.
She is Contract Professor at University of Palermo, Faculty of Management Engineering, in the fields of “Blockchain law and smart contract in economic systems” and “ Cyber security awareness.” She is also Adjunct Professor of Cyberspace and Society at Temple University, Rome.
She is European President of the Commission on “Artificial Intelligence” of the European Union of Lawyers. She has edited many articles and books such as Introduction to Blockchain and Smart Contract (July 2022) and a second book entitled Cybersecurity Awareness ( November 2022). She also contributed to Cyberspace and Society (July 2024) in 4 Volumes, and The Rise of AI: How AI Governance Works. A Brief Overview on the Italian Scenario (July 2025).
