Meet the Team

 

Carolina Meucci  

CAROLINA MEUCCI, licensed clinical psychologist and psychotherapist, and Head Counselor.
Dr. Meucci graduated in Clinical Psychology at La Sapienza  University of Rome, in 2002. Dr. Meucci then spent 1 year completing an internship at Lutheran Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY. She worked with the same hospital for two more years on a research project with children and adolescents affected by the trauma of September 11th. Dr. Meucci then enrolled in a two-year aster’s program in Forensic Psychology at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, graduating in 2007. She later completed a four-year specialization in psycho-dynamic psychotherapy at ISIPSè in Rome, graduating in 2012. She recently became a certified EMDR practitioner. Dr. Meucci currently works at the JCU Counseling Center as Head of Counseling and in her private practice.

     
Gino Maglio  

GINO MAGLIO, medical doctor and psychiatrist.
Dr. Maglio graduated from medical school in 2014 at La Sapienza University of Rome, then completed his residency in psychiatry in 2019 at “Policlinico Umberto I” university hospital in the city center. During medical school, Dr. Maglio spent six months in Antwerp, Belgium at Universitair Ziekenhuis and during his psychiatric residency he worked at Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm, Sweden for one year. Dr. Maglio currently works at the JCU Counseling Center, at the Bambino Gesù Pediatric Hospital, and in his private practice.


     
Lisa Gabbarelli  

LISA GABBARELLI, licensed clinical psychologist and psychotherapist, Ph.D.
Dr. Gabbarelli graduated in Clinical Psychology from the University of Florence, in 2006; she then completed a one-year internship in the Clinical Psychology Unit at the Careggi Hospital in Florence. In 2009 Dr. Gabbarelli moved to London to complete a 3-year Ph.D. program in Psychology at the University of London, St. George’s Hospital. When she moved back to Rome, Dr. Gabbarelli decided to undertake a four-year of psychotherapy training at the Winnicott Institute of Rome. Dr. Gabbarelli currently works at the JCU Counseling Center and in her private practice.


     
Nicola Petrocchi  

NICOLA PETROCCHI, licensed clinical psychologist and psychotherapist, Ph.D.
Dr. Petrocchi graduated in Clinical Psychology from La Sapienza University of Rome, in 2005 and then completed a four-year specialization in Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapy in Rome, in 2015. Dr. Petrocchi became interested in Compassion Focused Therapy and he is now the major exponent of this approach in Italy. He practices Mindfulness and Compassion meditation and he recently became certified as an EMDR practitioner. Dr. Petrocchi completed an international Ph.D. in Psychology and Social Neuroscience at “La Sapienza” University of Rome, during which he was a visiting scholar for 1 year at Boston University. Furthermore, he completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Neuroimaging Laboratory, Fondazione Santa Lucia (Rome). Dr. Petrocchi currently works at the JCU Counseling Center, and in his private practice.

     
Domenico Scaringi  

DOMENICO SCARINGI, licensed clinical psychologist and psychotherapist, Ph.D.
Dr. Scaringi graduated in clinical psychology from “La Sapienza” University of Rome; he then completed an M.Sc. in Developmental Psychopathology and Neuroscience through a bridge program between University College London and Yale University. He then completed a 4-year psychotherapy program in Rome, specializing in adolescents and young adults. Finally, Dr. Scaringi completed a Ph.D. in psychology and cognitive sciences at La Sapienza University in Rome. Dr. Scaringi currently works at the JCU Counseling Center, Nostos Cooperativa Sociale, and in his private practice.


     
Catherine Rossi  

CATHERINE ROSSI, Italian licensed clinical psychologist and a US licensed Clinical Social Worker and psychotherapist.
Dr Rossi graduated from La Sapienza university of Rome with a degree in Developmental Psychology. She then moved to New York City where she worked at the NYU Child Study Center and attended a master’s program at NYU. After earning her graduate degree, Dr. Rossi worked at an outpatient clinical program for the treatment of substance abuse in the criminal justice system. In New York, Dr. Rossi also trained in family therapy at the Ackerman Institute for the Family. Dr. Rossi currently works at the JCU Counseling Center and in her private practice.


     
Alexia Koukopoulos  

ALEXIA KOUKOPOULOS, medical doctor, psychiatrist, Ph.D.
Dr. Koukopoulos graduated from medical school in 2001 at La Sapienza University of Rome and completed her residency in psychiatry in 2005 at Sant'Andrea Hospital in Rome. She worked as a Research Fellow at MGH Harvard University Perinatal Psychiatry Program in Boston from 2005 to 2007. In 2006 she completed her United States Medical Licensing Examinations and in 2017 she completed her Ph.D. in Psychiatry at La Sapienza University of Rome. Her research focuses on mood disorders and perinatal psychiatry. Since 2008 she has been working in University hospitals in Rome, currently Policlinico Umberto I, as a psychiatrist and at the Centro Lucio Bini, an outpatient clinic that specializes in mood disorders. She joined the JCU Counseling Center in 2021.
