Alumni are valued members of the John Cabot University community and are welcome to engage with designated campus resources in a manner that respects the needs and priorities of current students.
These guidelines outline the expectations for alumni access and conduct to ensure that each visit is safe, respectful, and aligned with JCU’s shared values. We look forward to staying connected with you and celebrating the lifelong bond that unites all members of the JCU family.
All alumni are required to present a valid John Cabot University (JCU) Alumni ID Card, issued by the Alumni Office, to access campus facilities. Alumni must notify the Alumni Office in advance of their intended visit by sending an email to [email protected].
Alumni who do not possess a valid Alumni ID Card may request one by contacting the Alumni Office via [email protected] or through the official alumni portal.
The following information must be provided at the time of request:
Alumni visiting with family members or friends must notify the Alumni Office at least 24 working hours in advance of the visit, so that the Front Office can authorize entry. All accompanying guests must present a valid form of identification.
The use of another individual’s ID card or sharing of access credentials is strictly prohibited and may result in the suspension of alumni access privileges, as determined by the Alumni Office.
Alumni must contact [email protected] in advance to access any JCU facilities.
Alumni may access the Frohring Library by showing their ID at the Guarini Front Office. They will receive a Library Pass that will guarantee on campus access to all Library facilities and resources. The remote (off-campus) use of all the electronic resources is not available.
Access to the Library is granted during regular opening hours:
Monday through Thursday 8:00 AM - 9:45 PM
Friday 8:00 AM - 8:45 PM
Saturday and Sunday: 12:00 PM - 8:45 PM
We advise alumni to check in advance the Library opening hours, as they are subject to changes during breaks and summer sessions. The Library is not open to alumni during mid-term and final
exams in both Fall and Spring sessions.
Alumni can get access to the print collection of books and borrow up to 2 books at a time.
Items can be borrowed and renewed as follows:
If a book from the Main Collection is already checked out to another patron, alumni can place a request for it through JCU Discovery, using their online account. If more than two borrowers request the same book the library system will automatically shorten the loan period, which will never be less than 7 days anyway. All Library users will receive an e-mail notification with the new date.
As soon as the book is returned it is placed on hold for 5 days for the person that requested it, who will be notified via e-mail. Pick-up is at the Welcome Desk. Books on hold that remain unclaimed for more than 5 days will be reshelved, and the hold will be cancelled.
Reference help is available for alumni both on campus and online. You can schedule a face-to-face appointment with one of the Reference Librarians, send an e-mail, or use the online chat.
Alumni can request books that are not owned by the Frohring Library by using the Interlibrary Loan Service and contacting Enrico Amarante at [email protected]. Users are always required to pay the shipment expenses and the lending library fees.
Participation in JCU sports teams is limited to up to two alumni per semester, and to alumni who graduated no more than three years prior to the start of the semester. Alumni wishing to participate
must try out alongside JCU students and are subject to approval by the Athletics Director or designated coach.
Alumni must provide proof of health insurance coverage for the duration of their participation and are responsible for any fees associated with participation, including uniforms.
All athletes, whether current students or alumni, are required to sign the ASD waiver and adhere to the JCU Student Code of Conduct. Failure to comply may result in suspension of athletic privileges.
Alumni have lifetime access to JCU’s Career Services. Career counselors are available for both in-person and virtual appointments, providing guidance on a wide range of professional development topics. Alumni may also attend Career Services events. For more information, please contact [email protected].
JCU also provides access to its official Alumni Platform, which supports mentoring, professional networking, and community engagement. Through the platform, alumni can post job opportunities and explore job listings shared by the community.
Alumni are encouraged to create and maintain an active profile to benefit from the full range of platform features.
Alumni access to JCU dining facilities is limited depending on the space and capacity. Alumni are not eligible to purchase student meal plans. Peak student hours (11:30 AM – 2:30 PM) are reserved exclusively for current students.
Large alumni gatherings on campus must be coordinated in advance with the Alumni Office at [email protected]
Alumni are welcome to attend all open or public University events. When an event requires prior registration, alumni must comply with the event-specific registration guidelines.
Alumni wishing to organize an event or gathering on campus must coordinate in advance with the Alumni Office at [email protected].
Alumni are expected to adhere to the University’s Alumni Code of Conduct while on campus. Disruptive behavior, extended or repeated unscheduled use of University facilities, or interference with student activities may result in temporary or permanent restriction of alumni access privileges.
The University reserves the right to limit or revoke alumni access to facilities in cases of misconduct, interference with student activities, unauthorized or repeated use of facilities, or other actions that conflict with student-centered priorities. Decisions regarding access restrictions will be determined by the Alumni Office in consultation with campus administration.
John Cabot University values its alumni community and warmly welcomes graduates back to campus. Continued involvement, whether through attending events, mentoring, or campus visits, enriches the University’s academic and social life.
JCU maintains formal channels to collect feedback to continuously improve services and engagement. Alumni are encouraged to share comments or suggestions regarding campus facilities, services, or overall experience.
The Alumni Office may distribute surveys once or twice per year to gather input that helps guide enhancements to alumni programs. Feedback may also be submitted at any time directly to the Alumni Office at [email protected].
