Nicola Bulgari, Chairman of Fondazione Nicola Bulgari and Vice Chairman of the Bulgari Group since 1984, was born in Rome in 1941 and introduced to the family business in the 1960s by his father Giorgio. He is the grandson of Sotirio Bulgari, a gifted silversmith who emigrated from Greece and founded the company in 1884. Under the Bulgari family’s leadership, the brand has grown from a single Roman jewelry shop into an international symbol of Italian excellence and is now part of the LVMH Group with a portfolio spanning jewelry, watches, accessories, perfumes, and luxury hospitality.
His philanthropic impact is global, with decades of support for the arts, cultural institutions, and education. He has served on the Board of Trustees of Carnegie Hall since 2007 and on the Board of Directors of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia since 2015. A recipient of the JCU Frank J. Guarini Medal for Leadership in Philanthropic Engagement at the JCU New York Gala 2025, Nicola Bulgari continues to demonstrate a deep commitment to nurturing young talent in the arts and beyond, leaving a lasting imprint on the cultural and educational landscape.
The Bulgari Scholarship stands as a testament to his belief in the power of opportunity, the value of heritage, and the transformative impact of education.
