Walter Paternesi Meloni began teaching Microeconomics at John Cabot University in 2024. His primary academic affiliation is with Sapienza University of Rome, where he is Associate Professor of Economics. Over the years, he has taught a range of courses, including Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Economic Policy, Law & Economics, Monetary Economics, and International Economics. 
He has previously held academic positions at the University of Naples Federico II, Freie Universität Berlin, and Roma Tre University. His research focuses on two main areas: i) the determinants of key macroeconomic variables and income distribution at both national and regional levels; ii) the relationship between international trade and labor markets, with a particular emphasis on the implications for welfare systems and economic development.  
His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and has contributed to institutional reports on the Italian economy, including those by the National Social Security Institute (INPS) and the Presidency of the Council of Ministers – Department for Regional Affairs. Prof. Paternesi Meloni has participated in several funded research projects and regularly presents at academic conferences and workshops. He also serves as a referee for numerous scientific journals and has extensive experience supervising master’s and Ph.D. students.
