Walter Paternesi Meloni started teaching Microeconomics at JCU in 2024. He is also Assistant Professor of Economics at Sapienza University of Rome, where he teaches Political Economics and Monetary Economics.
He has also held academic positions at the University of Naples Federico II, Freie Universität Berlin, and Roma Tre University. His research focuses on two main areas. The first explores the determinants of key macroeconomic variables and income distribution at both national and regional levels. The second investigates the links between international trade and the labor market, with particular attention to implications for welfare systems. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and has contributed to institutional reports on the Italian economy (INPS and the Presidency of the Council of Ministers – Department for Regional Affairs).
Prof. Paternesi Meloni has participated in several funded research projects and regularly presents at academic conferences and workshops. He also serves as a referee for numerous scientific journals and has extensive experience supervising master’s and Ph.D. students.
