Professor Simona Costagli, who joined JCU in 2008, was born and raised in Rome. She has an undergraduate degree in statistics and a PhD in economics from Sapienza University of Rome. She is currently Chief Economist and Head of Institutional Affairs and Research at a major bank.
Dr. Costagli began teaching economics as an adjunct at JCU in 2008. She has published many articles on international economic issues, bank-firm relationships, and the economics of information. Her current interests and research also include the impact of AI on competitiveness and the labor market.
She is a member of the Demographics Executive Committee of the Italian Banking Association.
The Class of 2019 voted Dr. Costagli “Professor of the Year.”
