Paola Gioia, who joined JCU in 2026, is an active and motivated scholar whose research focuses on societal challenges and the interplay between environmental, cultural, and economic dimensions in territorial development. She holds a multidisciplinary academic background spanning landscape ecology, sustainable agriculture, and a Ph.D. in Business Administration with a socio-anthropological approach obtained through a double degree at KEDGE Business School and the University of Toulon in France. This diverse training equips her with a holistic perspective and enables her to approach complex phenomena through cross-disciplinary and multi-stakeholder lenses.
She has collaborated with internationally recognized researchers and taken part in major conferences, seminars, and workshops in the fields of marketing, sustainability, and consumer culture. She has also contributed to European research projects involving universities, policymakers, and entrepreneurs. These experiences have broadened her perspective, strengthened her collaborative management skills, and enhanced her ability to build synergies among diverse institutional and territorial actors.
Alongside her research activities, she has taught international students in both English and French, gaining significant experience in higher education. She is committed to fostering student engagement, supporting creative thinking, and experimenting with innovative pedagogical approaches that stimulate critical and reflexive skills.
