Bio

An experienced communications specialist, journalist, and lecturer, John Christopher Fiegener has worked in media for decades, with a career spanning from a CNN staff editor/producer in the 1980s to a lecturer at John Cabot University in Rome. His extensive background includes serving as a senior international news producer for major news organizations like CNN and Fox News Channel. In these roles, he covered significant global events and numerous crises and conflict situations, including the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi in Libya, battles between pro-Russian and Ukrainian forces in the Donbas region, civil wars in Bosnia and Liberia, conflicts in Lebanon and Afghanistan, and terror attacks in Paris and Nice. As a bureau chief for FNC in Baghdad, he managed crews after the 2003 US invasion until the US withdrawal in 2011.

As a content writer/analyst for Lead Stories LLC, he researched and wrote content exposing misinformation on the social media platform TikTok. His work initially focused on COVID-19 misinformation before shifting to conflicts in Ukraine and the MENA region, and election integrity.
In 2025, he joined John Cabot University in Rome, where he teaches undergraduate courses designed to combat misinformation, including Unravelling the Web of Deception: Detecting and Combating Online Disinformation and Misinformation and Fact Checking for the Newsroom. He also teaches Writing Across the Media and Introduction to News Reporting and Writing. Additionally, he is a freelance contributor for Huffington Post Italia, where he covers U.S. political and cultural events.
