Dr. Clifford Kusaj, who joined JCU in 2024, is a licensed clinical and forensic psychologist. He has over 30 years of experience across diverse settings, including community mental health, federal and state prisons, state psychiatric hospitals, and probation and parole systems in the United States. He served for 15 years as Chief Psychologist of the California Board of Parole Hearings, where he played a key role in shaping psychological assessment practices within the state’s correctional system. In recognition of his exemplary service, Dr. Kusaj was awarded the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation’s Medal of Valor for Distinguished Service in 2018.
Dr. Kusaj is a recognized authority in violence risk assessment and risk management, areas in which he has published scholarly work and delivered professional training and lectures. His career reflects a commitment to advancing forensic psychology practice through leadership, research, and mentorship.
