Andrea Capurso is a research fellow in space law at LUISS University – School of Law (Rome, Italy) and a lecturer at John Cabot University, teaching the course The Politics and Law of Space Activities. He joined JCU in 2025. He is also the academic coordinator of the master in "Space Law and Geopolitics" at LUISS University. In June 2025, he defended his Ph.D. Thesis titled "Private Space Activities: Issues of International Law."
As a licensed attorney in administrative law with a specialization in licensing procedures, he has previously worked in the legal departments of private entities and public institutions of the space sector, such as Telespazio and EUSPA.
In his nearly ten years of experience in space law, he has published numerous articles on various legal aspects of extra-atmospheric operations, from property rights to space debris. In 2018, his article "The non-appropriation principle: a Roman interpretation" was awarded the Diederiks-Verschoor Award by the International Institute of Space Law. He also holds an Advanced LL.M. in Air and Space Law from Leiden University.
