Alessandro Cascavilla, PhD is an Assistant Professor in Public Economics at University of Rome Unitelma Sapienza. He is Adjunct Professor of Economics in the Department of Communication and Social Research at Sapienza University of Rome. He has obtained the Italian National Scientific Qualification (ASN) for the position of Associate Professor in both "Economic Policy" and "Public Economics" sectors. He joined JCU in 2026.
He serves as an Associate Editor of the international journal Humanities and Social Sciences Communications (Nature Portfolio). In 2023, he obtained his PhD in Economics and Management (Economics curriculum) from the University of Bari Aldo Moro, under a joint doctoral program with the PhD in Economics at Universitat Jaume I (Spain).
Since 2023, he has been a member of the Bioeconomy in Transition Research Group, where he previously worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Economic Policy. He also worked as a Junior Economist at the Italian Public Accounts Observatory (Osservatorio sui Conti Pubblici Italiani) at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart under the supervision of Carlo Cottarelli.
He is the author of more than 20 scientific publications, including 15 articles published in A-Class (ASN Economics Area 13) journals. His research focuses on public economics, economic policy, and sustainability, with a particular emphasis on behavioral and experimental economics.
In addition to his academic activities, he is actively engaged in the public dissemination of economics through social media, where he has more than 250k followers and his contents reach more than 5 millions views each month. For this reason, he has been recognized with the "Best Economist Finfluencer Award 2026", he is "LinkedIn Top Voice" in the Finance category, and he has been included among the Top 20 Most Influent LinkedIn Voices in Italy (source: Favikon 2025).
