Elisa Puvia is a Lecturer of Psychology in the Department of Psychological and Social Sciences at John Cabot University of Rome. She received a Ph.D. in Cognitive Sciences from the University of Padua, and a II level master’s degree in Analysis, Prevention, and Fight against Organized Crime and Corruption, from the University of Pisa. Over the course of her career, she worked at the University of South Florida (USF), the University of Kent, the University of Melbourne, and the University of Brussels (ULB). Her primary research interest focuses on the objectification of women. She extensively investigated its cognitive and existential underpinnings and implications in terms of perceived humanness for those who are objectified, its cultural foundation, and its impact on the perpetration of gender-based violence.
Professor Puvia pays special attention to the implications of her work and to alternative modes of disseminating academic research. She joined The power of the other hand project working to create awareness about domestic violence against women using art exhibitions as a medium.
She loves travel, good readings, and veg food.
