My name is Catia Gage, and I am a visiting student from Rutgers University. Utilizing the resources of the JCU Center for Career Services, I obtained an internship at Dakota Rome, a luxury vintage boutique. I worked as social media intern and was responsible for creating and publishing content on social media platforms. This involved developing strategies to enhance the boutique's online presence, engaging with the audience, and maintaining a consistent brand image. This internship provided me with an understanding of the social media and luxury retail industry. Working abroad has broadened my perspective and enhanced my adaptability, skills that I believe will be valuable as I continue to pursue a career in social media marketing. I highly recommend this internship to other students because not only do you develop and grow your marketing skills, but it is also a great opportunity to step out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself in a new environment.

Luis Nevarez

Luis Nevarez - Psychology and Sociology

My name is Luis Nevarez, and I’m a student at the University of Denver, currently studying abroad at John Cabot University. In Fall 2023, I interned at L’Arche organization, more specifically Il Chicco community in Ciampino. L’Arche is an organization that provides support and housing to individuals with intellectual disabilities. Once a week, I provide assistance with day-to-day activities. I also help translate for a partner magazine and research articles that they are adding to a growing bibliography to be used at future conferences. I would recommend this internship because it helped me expand my worldview and allowed me to see everything in a new light. It provided me with a new perspective on how different people live and helped me understand that it’s similar to my own way of life.

Daniel Zaretsky

DANIEL ZARETSKY - POLITICAL SCIENCE AND INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS

My name is Daniel Zaretsky and I am a visiting student from American University, Washington D.C., majoring in Political Science and International Business. I obtained an internship at Inter Press Service (IPS) through the JCU Center for Career Services. IPS is a news agency based in Rome that covers political, economic, and social subjects around the globe. My tasks included Search Engine Optimization, implementing AI into news editing (using technologies such as ChatGPT), researching, and writing articles. I would recommend this internship to other students because it has provided hands-on experience working at a news agency and has added to my communications and research skills.

Ainsley Elliott

Ainsley Elliott - Supply Chain and Geography

My name is Ainsley Elliott and I am a Supply Chain and Geography student from Texas Christian University. In summer 2023 I obtained an internship at Scooteroma Tours through the JCU Center for Career Services. Scooteroma Tours is a small sightseeing company that focuses on tours of Rome completely on a vespa. As the social media and brand promotion intern, most of my day-to-day tasks were to make social media content, respond to emails, and meet clients before their tours. I highly recommend this internship to other students because Scooteroma allows you to experience the various marketing strategies that define a company’s brand identity. I have also been able to meet more locals and learn about local businesses through Scooteroma’s partnerships, which has allowed me to cultivate a special connection to Rome.

Juri Morimoto - Humanities and Sociology

My name is Juri Morimoto and I am an exchange student from Rikkyo University, Japan, majoring in Humanities and Sociology. I obtained an internship at So Fare Films through the JCU Center for Career Services. So Fare Films is a media production company established by Professor Jenn Lindsay, with the mission to promote justice and personal dignity through documentaries, educational materials, and social media. My main tasks were to create and film educational content with the production and social media teams. I would highly recommend this internship to students who are interested in working with a diverse group and willing to learn more about the film industry. Not only can you apply your experiences and skills through different projects, but there are also many opportunities to broaden your perspectives and gain knowledge about video production.

Alvaro Corona - Engineering

I'm Alvaro Corona, a visiting student from Texas Christian University pursuing a major in Engineering with a minor in Energy Studies. In Summer 2023 I obtained an internship at Competere through the JCU Center for Career Services. Competere is a renowned sustainability policy institute that places a strong emphasis on fostering sustainability within the food industry. It collaborates closely with governments, businesses, and organizations to encourage far-sighted strategic thinking in terms of sustainability. As social media manager at Competere, I was responsible for crafting engaging articles, curating weekly newsletters, providing event summaries, creating presentations, and managing Competere's presence on various social media platforms. I highly recommend this internship as it provided me with a valuable opportunity to expand my understanding of sustainability and enhance my writing skills.

My name is Isabella, and I am a Communications student from Rutgers University. I obtained an internship through the JCU Center for Career Services at Dakota, a small business that sells and buys vintage, second-hand, and new luxury accessories. As social media manager, I posted content to social media pages, and I photographed and uploaded new items to the company website. I studied the algorithm of specific social media platforms and how to increase engagement online. I recommend this internship to other students because it’s an excellent opportunity to learn about social media engagement and improve your communication skills.

Whitney Kelley - Marketing/Entrepreneurship

My name is Whitney Kelley and I am a Marketing/Entrepreneurship student from Texas Christian University. In summer 2023 I obtained an internship at Dakota Rome Bags through the JCU Center for Career Services. Dakota is a company that buys and sells preloved luxury bags, watches, and accessories. As the social media manager, my job was to plan and post content on Dakota’s TikTok account. I also photographed the bags and edited photos for the website. I highly recommend this internship to other students, because Pamela, the owner, is very knowledgeable about the vintage luxury fashion industry and taught me so much about marketing and what it takes to be an entrepreneur in a competitive market.

My name is Jaedon Contreras and I am an Entrepreneurship & Innovation student from Texas Christian University. In Summer 2023 I obtained an internship through the JCU Center for Career Services, at the Accelerator Network, a company that specializes in fostering innovation and growth for tech startups. They provide a comprehensive ecosystem of resources, mentorship, and funding to help entrepreneurs turn their ideas into successful businesses. My job was to support the Head of Seed Investment in analyzing active seed funds in the EU and UK. I also kept the database updated, while engaging with investment personnel to find potential investors for our startups. I would recommend this internship to students that have a strong interest in the investment ecosystem in business.
