Study Political Science in Rome

The Bachelor of Arts in Political Science has as its focus the theoretical and methodological aspects of the study of politics. It introduces students to the systematic analysis of political structures, institutions, issues and events. An understanding of the historical and behavioral aspects of political life in an increasingly globalized world is the foundation on which the academic curriculum for this degree is based.

We offer numerous merit-based Presidential Scholarships and need-based Assistance Grants.

Bachelor of Arts in Political Science

The Bachelor of Arts program in political science prepares students to identify, analyze, and critically interrogate relations of power and governance. Whether the particular topic is legislative systems, international relations, parties and elections, social movements, law, or political theory, coursework in political science provides the opportunity for in-depth study of the distribution, dynamics, and legitimization of political power.

JCU’s program and curriculum in political science has traditional strengths in the behavioral and historical study of American, European and international institutional politics, as well as global public policy, human rights, peace and conflict studies, and global political theory. Reflecting its special place in Rome as the birthplace of the European Union and as capital of both a political state (Italy) and an international religious faith (the Catholic Church), and of three international food organizations, JCU’s Bachelor of Arts in Political Science also offers a regional focus on politics in the European and broader Mediterranean context.
