Families of Prospective Students
The transition to university abroad is a huge journey for students, and we understand that you’re on that journey with them.
As the family member of a John Cabot student, you will see your relative supported every step of the way. From arriving at the airport, to adjusting to residential life, to registering for classes and learning how to balance academic responsibilities with self-discovery and personal growth, John Cabot will be there for them while you cheer them on.
It is our strong belief that learning takes place both inside and outside the classroom, and this is never truer than during the experience of studying abroad - be it for a summer, semester, or a full four-year degree. We strive to give your students the tools they need to be successful to take full advantage of their time in Rome. We want to help make this journey easier for you and your family. Whether it’s planning a campus visit, preparing the application materials, or researching scholarships, we are here to help you along the way.
The best way to experience John Cabot University and see if it is the right fit for
you and your student is to visit us!
Campus visits are available Monday through Friday. Each visit consists of a private meeting with an admissions counselor and a walking tour of our facilities. Students can also request to sit in on one or more classes or have lunch with us to try out our Tiber Cafeteria. Sign up here, or for more information, email [email protected].
We also regularly host Open Houses, which include information about JCU's academics, student life, housing, financial aid, scholarships, the application process, a campus tour, and the opportunity to ask questions to admissions counselors and current students. Sign up here for an upcoming Open House, or for more information, email [email protected].
The diversity of our student body at John Cabot University is one of our greatest sources of pride. We bring together degree-seeking and study abroad students from across the globe, creating a unique community that thrives in the Italian capital city.
For parents of students who are enrolled at another university that would like to study abroad for a summer session, semester, or year at John Cabot University, here is general study abroad admissions information and information about our American accreditation. John Cabot also offers a gap year program for students who wish to spend time abroad before commencing an undergraduate program
and an intensive English language program for students whose level of English does not yet qualify them for entry to the University's undergraduate program.
As an overseas American liberal arts university in Italy, John Cabot's mission and goal is to create a community of both degree-seeking and study abroad students by making JCU affordable as possible for every student and family.

"We're parents of three students who, over a five year period, all spent a semester
during their junior year at John Cabot University. We couldn't be more pleased with
the outcome, especially when considering that all their credits transferred, the cost
was reasonable, and the quality of their classes at John Cabot was outstanding."
