Message from the Dean
Dear Prospective Student,
There are many excellent liberal arts universities in the United States dedicated to student learning. What makes John Cabot University's educational experience unique?
JCU is in the historic center of Rome – a city that belongs to the world. Imagine what it would be like to live in a city with 3,000 years of history. With Rome as your campus you will walk on your own and with your professors in the footsteps of emperors, popes, statesmen, gladiators and slaves, and at the same time observe on a daily basis the economic and political dynamics of modern Europe. Rome is home to diplomatic embassies, United Nations organizations and the Vatican, all situated amidst ever-present reminders of the past: from ancient Roman ruins and the art of the Renaissance to simple inscriptions on houses commemorating a loved-one's death during WWII. It is an environment that will inspire you to grow both intellectually and personally.
JCU is liberal arts. Today's internet age gives us nearly unlimited access to information. As global citizens, we face the challenge of not simply knowing but understanding this information. We must learn how to critically assess the sources of information, understand its meaning, and use it wisely. As Albert Einstein said, "Unthinking respect for authority is the greatest enemy of truth." Equipped with a JCU education, you will understand how to think critically and creatively and express your ideas clearly and concisely.
JCU has a unique student body and world class international faculty. In addition to having students from 70 countries, JCU hosts visiting students from nearly every state across the United States. Our faculty, holding advanced degrees from major universities throughout the world, brings an international dimension to the classroom. Daily contact with such a diverse group of people provides you with a tremendous opportunity to learn how to live, interact, and work in a multicultural global setting – a characteristic that has become highly valued in today's world. John Cabot University's student body and faculty will challenge you to question and examine yourself and, in doing so, you will discover the richness and complexity of human existence.
Overall, our students describe themselves as "explorers, intellectuals, involved, risk-takers, passionate, and cosmopolitan." We are proud of our students as they enrich us and make our University distinct. JCU has helped countless young men and women enter prestigious graduate programs and establish careers at international firms as well as navigate their lives with academic maturity, tolerance, and a little Italian pizzazz.
If this is the type of educational experience you may want for your university years,
explore John Cabot University.
