The JCU Business Club is a student-run organization aiming to create a community of students who will be working together as a team to learn how to conduct business matters hands on. The Business Club will be a destination that will provide students with a new variety of opportunities to utilize the skills that are learned in the classroom. We want to stimulate students to think beyond the individual functions of a business, and to understand the strategies that lead to sustained success over time. We prepare our members to enter the business world by involving them in projects and activities where they are essential in terms of organization.

The Business Club Mission:

  • To provide JCU students with new academic, professional, and social opportunities 
  • To educate the University on business topics by keeping the students updated on the ongoing events in the business world and allowing them to reflect on these events with fellow members
  • To promote communication and networking among students, faculty members, and alumni by connecting each group to the necessary resources that they are seeking
  • To provide members greater exposure to the world of business through guest speaker forums, club fundraisers, community service projects, and excursions to leading companies

As an organization, the Business Club is eager to create an organization where members are all equally able to contribute to meetings and activities. In order to accomplish this, it will be up to the board members to restore the horizontal ideology that the club was founded on. Our goal for the upcoming year is to involve all of the members (if possible) in the activities we plan on hosting. In turn, students will be able to use us as a resource to make the connections they will need in the future.

Upcoming Challenges and Opportunities:

The main challenge the Business Club will face is incorporating our fellow members more than we have in the past. This main obstacle we must overcome is getting all the members to our meetings in order to include them. We are aware of the schedule inconveniences that many students face. Therefore, we have made the decision to cut down our club meetings from once a week to once every two weeks. Instead, we will double the duration of each meeting from 45 minutes to one hour and 30 minutes.We want our members to be able to learn from one another. We will work endlessly with our advisor to organize several workshop days that can prove to be useful for the future business men and women of the world.
