Guest Services and Policies
The Frohring Library is a private institution almost entirely funded by students' tuition, with a limited number of seats. Therefore, it is dedicated to serving the needs of the John Cabot University community: our students first and foremost, but also faculty, staff, alumni.
Guests are welcome to use the facility and its resources, with some limitations. A first visit to the library is free and should be on Fridays only. Afterwards, guests must purchase a yearly pass for €200.00 or a 30-day pass for €50.00.
The Library is not open to external users during Mid-Term and Final Exams in both Fall and Spring sessions. Days of restricted access will not count towards the 30-day total and the pass will be extended accordingly.
Access to the Library is granted during regular opening hours:
Monday through Thursday 8:00 AM - 9:45 PM
Friday 8:00 AM - 8:45 PM
Saturday and Sunday: 12:00 PM - 8:45 PM
Guests are advised to check in advance the Library Opening Hours, which are also subject to changes during breaks and summer sessions.
Yearly and 30-day passes include an ID card to access the premises, plus a wi-fi account to use with personal hand-held devices and library computers. Guests must show their ID card at the Front Office, and stay in the Library area only. The Library reserves the right to refuse guest admittance in case of extreme overcrowding.
Guests can use the Library facilities to access digital and print resources. Electronic resources can only be accessed using the Library computers.
Photocopy machines are available in the library. These operate with a €3.00 card (for 50 copies), which can be purchased from a vending machine.
According to Italian law, users can photocopy any copyrighted work only within these limits:
the original document must be owned by the Library;
the copy represents less than 15% of books and journal issues, advertisement pages excluded;
personal use: multiple copies are not allowed.
