Gaby Ford, as an actress has traveled throughout India, Africa, Europe and the USA working with TV, film and theatre. As a director, she specializes in grass roots theatre. In 1996, Gaby founded The English Theatre of Rome dedicated to spring-boarding artists by producing English theatre in Rome. She has since produced more than 100 shows and was recognized for outstanding cultural contribution in 2004 through The American International Club of Rome. In 2007, she was selected as one of “Outstanding Women Overseas” by the FAWCO Foundation (The Federation of American Women's Clubs Overseas).

Since 2012 every season including 2016, the theatre has received "The 50/50 Award", through ICWP organization for producing women playwrights 50% of the season. In 2015, she was honored by an Outstanding Leadership, by the International Center for Women Playwrights. The Theatre has become a significant platform for directors, playwrights, actors, technicians and designers from all over the world to showcase their talents to an international audience. Ms. Ford is thrilled with the annual collaboration of John Cabot’s Italy Reads program which enables the theatre to reach further out to Italian high school students through American literature.
