Antonio López, PhD, has 15 years experience as a media educator and researcher. From 2000-2007 he researched and developed Spanish language media literacy curricula, and developed and evaluated community service projects using digital media literacy with disadvantaged youth across the United States. During this time he developed grassroots media programs with high school-aged Native Americans, African Americans, Latinos and immigrants. He has written three books, Mediacology: A Multicultural Approach to Media Literacy in the 21st Century (Peter Lang, 2008), The Media Ecosystem: What Ecology Can Teach Us About Responsible Media Practice (Evolver Editions, 2012), and Greening Media Education (Peter Lang, 2014). He has published numerous journal articles and book chapters about media education and youth media. He teaches Introduction to Visual Communication, Writing Across the Media, Media Culture and Society, Digital Media Culture, Media and the Environment, Writing Across the Media, Advanced Media Theory, and Senior Capstone Project.
