Secchia Scholars Program
The Secchia Family Foundation's Secchia Scholars program awards partial tuition scholarships each year to qualifying students. The five types of Secchia Scholarships are available for degree-seeking, visiting and study abroad students applying to JCU. Secchia Scholarships are awarded for one semester or one year. (Semester recipients may reapply for a second semester award.)
Recipients are limited to one type of "Secchia Scholarship" per semester.
To apply for a Secchia Scholarship, request a scholarship application from the JCU Financial Aid Office at [email protected].
The deadlines to submit your application are March 15 for the fall semester and October 15 for the spring semester.
The National Italian American Foundation Norman R. Peterson Scholarship
A partial tuition scholarship of $5,000 for study at John Cabot University is made possible through the generosity of Ambassador and Mrs. Peter Secchia in memory of Mrs. Secchia's late father, Mr. Norman Peterson.
Two grants are awarded annually to an Italian-American, U.S.-based student. Preference will be given to you if you live or study in the Midwest. The financial award received allows you to be classified as a "Secchia Scholar" with an additional tuition reduction of 15% off the current JCU tuition fee.
Recipients are selected by the National Italian-American Foundation.

The Order Sons of Italy in America Pietro Secchia Scholarship
This scholarship is granted to qualified Italian-American undergraduates for one semester or one academic year at John Cabot University in Rome. A $5,000 scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic merit, financial need, and your desire to further your knowledge of Italian heritage. The financial award received allows you to be classified as a "Secchia Scholar" with an additional Merit Scholarship of 15% tuition reduction off the current JCU tuition.
Preference will be given to students who live or study in the Midwest. Recipients are selected by the Order Sons of Italy in America.
Scholarships for a summer session may also be awarded (reduced amount). The scholarships are funded by the Ambassador Peter F. Secchia Family Foundation.

Western Michigan "Secchia Scholars II" Scholarships
A maximum of five Secchia Scholarships will be awarded in any regular semester.
These grants pay a significant portion of JCU's tuition. The scholarship entitles you to a reduction of 15% off the current JCU tuition and an award of $3,500 applied to the remaining tuition.
Example: If you received a Secchia scholarship in Fall 2012 or Spring 2013, the following would apply:
$10,450 Semester Tuition - 15% Secchia Scholar discount = $8,882.50 Remaining Tuition Owed - 3,500 Scholarship for Secchia Scholars = $5,382.50 Net Cost of Tuition to the Student
These scholarships are open to you if you meet the following criteria:
- You are a resident of and voter in Western Michigan. One scholarship, the "Don Lubbers Scholarship at GVSU," is dedicated exclusively to a student from Grand Valley State University applying to John Cabot University as a degree-seeking student or as a study abroad student attending for one semester;
- You are a student at JCU majoring in Business Administration or International Affairs. Study abroad applicants must have declared one of the following majors at their home institution as their field of study: accounting, business administration, economics, managerial science (all areas), mathematics, computer science, engineering or fields of study related to business and/or economics.
Universal Forest Products Inc. Scholarship
Two scholarships – $10,000 annually (for two semesters) – are available solely for family members of Universal Forest Products employees who have a minimum of 12 months' seniority. Children (biological or legally adopted) of full-time UFP employees (including those of any wholly owned subsidiary) who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply:
You are under age 25 and have completed a minimum of one year of education at a two- or four-year college or university in the United States.
Note: Children of UFP Officers may apply but will not be considered for scholarship selection if there are more applicants than scholarships available. (Recipients are also eligible for the 15% reduction of the current JCU tuition fee.)
The Economic Club of Grand Rapids Scholarship
This scholarship is funded by the Grand Rapids Economic Club and is available to a qualifying Western Michigan student to attend a study abroad program of your choice. If you choose to study at John Cabot University, you may also apply for the "Secchia Scholars" award and receive a discount of 15% of the John Cabot tuition. (Other benefits may be provided for "Secchia Scholars" by the Secchia Family.)
The Economic Club of Grand Rapids Scholarship is an independent scholarship.
