Moira Egan has had three poems included in the revised and expanded edition of
The Book of Forms: A Handbook of Poetics Including Odd and Invented Forms, edited by Lewis Putnam Turco (University Press of New England, 2012). Since 1968, "Lewis Turco's
The Book of Forms has been standard in the libraries of writers, teachers, scholars, and others who care about the craft of poetry."

Hot off the press!
And in
this month's issue of POESIA, a substantial selection of poems by
Billy Collins, former U.S. Poet Laureate, who will be JCU's 2012 Poet in Residence during the Summer Institute for Creative Writing and Literary Translation. The poems (in English and Italian) are introduced by Franco Nasi, Mr. Collins's Italian translator. On newsstands now!

Damiano Abeni and
Moira Egan have won the PREMIO DI POESIA “LA TORRE DELL’OROLOGIO” for the volume
L’uomo che cammina un passo avanti al buio (Oscar Mondadori 2011), a major selection of the poems of Mark Strand, former Poet Laureate of the United States, who was the Poet in Residence at John Cabot University in Summer, 2009.

Motivazione:
Il Premio speciale per la traduzione viene assegnato unanimemente a Damiano Abeni per il volume L’uomo che cammina un passo avanti al buio (Oscar Mondadori 2011), che raccoglie il meglio della testualità di Mark Strand, uno dei maggiori poeti americani viventi. Questo è solo l’ultimo di una serie di lavori di traduzione che Damiano Abeni, in collaborazione con Moira Egan, ha dedicato negli anni alla poesia americana, permettendo al lettore italiano la diretta conoscenza di autori del valore di John Ashbery, Charles Simic, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Elizabeth Bishop. Va infine detto che il gesto traduttivo di Abeni e Egan si caratterizza per l’equilibrio tra la precisione filologica della resa e la forza di un italiano che dell’originale mantiene la traccia, pur costituendosi in una pronuncia autonoma.
