ADMINISTRATIVE VACANCIES
Web Developer
This position requires a diverse set of technical skills in Web design and development. The successful applicant will work on a variety of academic web and database application projects in a collaborative, educational setting. Responsibilities include designing and developing continual upgrades to the John Cabot University Internet and Intranet website, including implementing, developing, and enhancing our new Content Management System (OmniUpdate Campus) and working on a mobile application. S/he will serve as a consultant to faculty and staff for web-related technologies and applications. An important component of the job will be to develop open source software, especially for the JCU Library and in support of teaching. This person will work with the Offices of Web Communications and Marketing and and will report to the Coordinator of Web Communications.
Applicants must possess valid EU working documents in Italy.
Preferred (the aptitude to learn new web technologies on the job is very important and will be taken into consideration):
• Minimum two years experience in web development; a degree in information technology or computer science is a plus
• Experience working with XHTML/CSS on production (live) websites adhering to W3C standards/validation requirements
• Experience working with web scripting technologies (JavaScript, jQuery, .NET, etc.)
• Knowledge of Web 2.0 Technologies
• Experience working with XML/XSL
• Experience supporting users (technical and non-technical) using web-based systems, applications and technologies
• Fluency in English and Italian
Desireable, but not required:
• Knowledge of Microsoft SQL
• Knowledge of Microsoft IIS
• Knowledge of how to use Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Flash
• Knowledge of Web accessibility and Web usability guidelines and practices
• Experience with web analytics and SEO
