Housing and Residential Life

Experience Rome as the Romans do!

JCU Housing provides accommodations in residential areas in order to promote an authentic study abroad experience in support of the overall mission of our University. Within these neighborhoods students have the opportunity to live Rome as locals do. Students who choose JCU Housing are mature, open to new experiences and ready for an international “off-campus” housing experience. Living in Roman-style housing will give you an even greater understanding of how urban Italians really live.

For the most part, JCU apartments are grouped in areas adjacent to the university. Our clustered apartments make it easy for you to get to know your JCU neighbors and commute to campus together on foot or by bus.

All JCU housing options have Resident Assistants onsite, students who are available to answer questions, develop community and organize dinners and day trips. JCU also offers a Meal Plan, which provides breakfast and lunch at local restaurants near campus. You can also sign up for a cooking class through Student Services so you can learn to cook molto bene!

JCU housing is not a mandatory part of the university application process. Before applying we invite you to carefully review all of our online materials, the application process, assignments policy, move-in/out dates, and all application and payment deadlines to see if JCU Housing is right for you.

JCU Housing is committed to providing:

  • Appropriate student living environment
  • Locations in safe neighborhoods.
  • Trained Resident Assistants who can help with the transition to Roman life
  • Access to public transportation and shopping
  • Autonomous apartments which allow interaction with local Romans

Characteristics of JCU Housing:

  • Apartments vary in design and aesthetics, but all provide a bedroom, shared bathroom and fully-equipped kitchen (to Italian standards, including a washing machine, but no dryer or dishwasher).
  • The majority of apartments are located within a 30 minute walk and/or ride via public transportation.
  • Apartments are maintained by long-term JCU contractors.
  • Utilities, such as gas and electric, are included in the price.
