Housing Options and Prices(Please note that New Prices are in effect from Fall 2008)

Housing is assigned on a first-come/first-served basis after we have received the Housing Request Form and Housing Placement Fee. This is the fee of $ 1,000 (Fall/Spring Semesters) or $600 (Summer Sessions) that reserves your housing, and is deducted from the total housing fee.

Placement is subject to availability. We will make every effort to accommodate your wishes but we cannot guarantee that you will be placed in the exact housing option of your choice. It is important that you indicate your order of preference when making your housing selection in case your first choice is not available.

HOUSING PRICES

JCU houses its students within two of the most prominent areas of Rome, The Vatican Area and the Trastevere Area. The pricing for JCU Housing is as follows:

USD $ 4,600 per Fall and Spring semester of 15 weeks
USD $ 1,400 per Summer Sessions of 5 weeks

Single Bedroom Options are available at USD $ 1,000 for Fall and Spring semesters and USD $ 300 for Summer Sessions.

*Choosing the Single Bedroom Option does not guarantee that you will be assigned a
single bedroom as availability is limited.

The Basic Housing Cost is $4,600 for Fall and Spring ($1,400 for the Summer Semesters) and is due according to the payment schedule that can be found in the Housing Application Section and Deadlines and before a student is allowed to enter his or her apartment. The Housing Placement Fee is deducted from the Basic Housing Cost and is non-refundable. After those dates there will be a late fee charge of $150. If a student is assigned a single bedroom the fee for this added option will be billed after move-in.

While JCU apartments are standardized in terms of basic amenities, they may vary in aesthetics; students must understand that University housing is Italian by nature in every way, including but not limited to its structure, surroundings, utilities, furnishings, and neighbors.

*Internet is not a service provided by JCU Housing. Some of the landlords and agencies provide this service and JCU does not accept any liability for this service and will not intervene in internet maintenance.

Note: The $50 (€50) Key Deposit is due during Orientation Week before a student receives the keys to his or her apartment, to cover cost of duplicates in case of loss or lockout. The unused portion, if any, is refundable when the keys are returned at the end of the semester. Please DO NOT PRE-PAY this fee.

JCU reserves the right to adjust the US dollar prices for housing if the currency exchange rate exceeds 1.40 USD/Euro

Check with your Study Abroad Office before applying for housing.
