  • read all the information on Pre-Arrival Information for All Newly Admitted Students;
  • check with your local Italian consulate for visa regulations. For further information, please read our Information on obtaining the mandatory Student Visa and Permit to Stay in Italy;
  • get your home advisor’s approval for the courses you wish to take at JCU, so that you are assured they will transfer back home.
  • make sure you have paid the Tuition Deposit and the Housing Deposit by the deadline so that both your place in the program and your housing are guaranteed.
  • get personal health insurance (if you don’t already have it) before you travel abroad; bring proof of your insurance with you. You’ll be taken through all of these steps during Orientation Week;
  • plan to arrive on one of the move-in days designated for your Summer Session. If you arrive in Rome before those dates, you must make your own accommodation arrangements until your apartment is available. Click here for JCU Housing move-in dates!
  • make sure your credit card is valid abroad and that you will have sufficient funds for your stay in Rome.
It is vital you read and understand what you need to do before you arrive, and what you need to do as soon as you arrive during Orientation Week.

Note: Check with your University’s Study Abroad Office. If your school has a formal agreement with JCU, they can tell you what the procedures are and who pays for what. Where there are agreements, deposits and some other fees may be waived (click here to see the list of some of the schools with which JCU has such agreements).

If your school has no agreement with JCU, then you should contact either the Study Abroad Office in the USA or in Rome.
