Get ready for Orientation Week

Orientation Week is mandatory for all new students.

If you cannot arrive on the designated check-in day, you must email prearrival@johncabot.edu immediately. Arriving late for Orientation Week will seriously compromise your adjustment to the University and to Rome. Additionally, there may be negative consequences concerning your registration for classes.

During this week every student is required to:

1. Buy Italian INA Health Insurance (if your policy is not valid abroad)
Italian law requires that all non-Italian students living in Italy have medical insurance, either through an Italian or a foreign insurance company. Platform3000 will assist you in obtaining a Health Insurance for your time abroad.

2. Get a Permesso di Soggiorno (Permit to Stay) in Italy. This is needed as well as a Student Visa Student Services will help you with this. For this you’ll need:
  • Copy of your Passport & Visa
  • Copy of Proof of Health Insurance (your Italian policy or letter from the Consulate)
  • 5 Photos -- recent passport-size (make sure they are all the same photo)
  • Signed stamped Visa Letter from the Italian Consulate & Acceptance Letter
  • Registration Letter
  • Housing Letter
3. Sign Forms:
  • Study Abroad Release Agreement (fiscal responsibility, risk statement)
  • Housing Contract (rights & responsibilities)
4. Take Placement Tests (for Degree Seeking Students Only):

During the week of Orientation, JCU schedules varies Placement tests that new students need to take unless they have already taken the introductory English and Math courses at other universities and are able to transfer them to JCU.
