University-funded Scholarships

John Cabot University offers a limited number of University-funded scholarships to new freshman and transfer students admitted to JCU. The university is committed to helping dedicated and deserving students meet their educational goals through a focused and merit-based scholarship program. The University feels that students of extraordinary academic achievement and/or limited means should have the opportunity to avail themselves of the high quality education that JCU offers.

JCU Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic performance, financial need, as well as geographical origin. The minimum cumulative GPA required for freshmen and transfer students newly admitted to JCU is 3.0. Most awards range from 25–50% of the tuition cost. Awards do not exceed 50% of tuition.

Please note: It is not possible to combine one particular JCU-funded scholarship with any other JCU scholarship or discount.

Scholarships do not cover the Student Activity Fee or any personal expenses such as housing, travel, books and other expenses of this type, which are the responsibility of the recipient.

Presidential Scholarships
Presidential Scholarships may be awarded to the highest-ranking applicant(s) on the basis of academic performance and financial need; and may be awarded to current students on the basis of exceptional academic performance in the preceding year. JCU Presidential Scholarships are awarded on the basis of both academic achievement and financial need. New freshmen and transfer students admitted to JCU with the following academic records will receive a Presidential Scholarship with the following annual awards:

Annual Award: € 6,000 or $ 7,500 GPA (or equivalent): CUM GPA of 3.75 and above

Annual Award: € 4,000 or $ 5,000 GPA (or equivalent): CUM GPA of 3.5 to 3.74

Annual Award: € 2,000 or $ 3,000 GPA (or equivalent): CUM GPA of 3.0 to 3.49

Please note that there are only a very limited number of these scholarships available every academic year.

Scholarships are awarded for one entire academic year; therefore, 50% of the amount will be applied towards the first regular semester, and the other half towards the second semester.

Italian Merit Scholarships
The Italian Merit Scholarships provide financial assistance to new degree-seeking students graduating from an Italian Liceo and are awarded on the basis of academic achievement. Students who enroll at the University immediately upon graduating from an Italian Liceo may receive a tuition scholarship based upon their performance level as indicated in the table below. Students may apply for renewal of the scholarship for the subsequent two years of study, based on achievement of a cumulative semester GPA as indicated below. The scholarship covers up to six regular semesters; no courses taken during the summer sessions will be covered by the scholarship.

The tuition indicated refers to the Academic Year 2008-2009 and may be subject to increase in coming years.
