John Cabot University has compiled a list of outside resources to help you find additional scholarships to fund your degree or study abroad experience at JCU in Rome, Italy.
National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) Scholarship
The National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) has an education budget of $1 million. The NIAF awards scholarships and grants to outstanding students in the summer for use during the following academic year. The awards are made on the basis of academic merit and divided between two groups:
General Category I:
Italian-American students who demonstrate outstanding potential and high academic achievements.
General Category II:
Students from any ethnic background majoring or minoring in Italian language, Italian studies, Italian American studies or a related field, who demonstrate outstanding potential and high academic achievement.
Scholarship awards range from $2,500-$10,000. Each scholarship award can be applied to cover tuition and university-provided room and board. As a NIAF Scholarship recipients you are eligible for one year of scholarship support. Scholarship money not used during one academic year is not transferable to the following academic year. You are encouraged to reapply in subsequent years.

JCU/University of Rome "Roma Tre" Student Exchange
Each term, JCU students (either degree-seeking or visiting) will be allowed to attend ONE course at Roma Tre covered by scholarships. These students will be chosen by the Chair of the Modern Languages and Literature Department. Upon the Dean's approval, students might be allowed take more than one course. Participating JCU students will be advised by Prof. Marinella Rocca Longo ((Presidente, Collegio Didattico in Lingue e Culture Straniere, Roma Tre: rocca@uniroma3.it) . Students will be evaluated according to Roma Tre assessment methods and criteria. Final grade must be at least 23/30 in order to pass the course and obtain transfer credit at JCU. Students will receive a grade report from Roma Tre’s Segreteria Centrale.
Majors and minors in Italian Studies and students interested in taking Law courses such as Diritto Privato, Diritto Costituzionale, and Diritto Privato Comparato are encouraged to apply.
Requirements:
• Junior or Senior status.
• Fluency in Italian. IT 302 course with a grade of B is the minimum requirement. A proficiency exam will be administered to students who have not taken IT 302.

2) a copy of your transcript,
3) a 500 word essay in Italian describing why you would be interested in studying at Roma Tre and how you think this experience would benefit you.

Scholarships for University of Rome "Roma Tre" Students
JCU offers scholarships to students of Roma Tre's
Dipartimento di Lingue e Culture Straniere, for up to ten courses. Students will be selected by the Director of the
Collegio Didattico in Lingue e Culture Straniere, Professor Marinella Rocca Longo. This group of students will be communicated to the JCU Chair of Department of Modern Languages and Literature who will submit the names to the JCU Registrar and Admissions Office so that the scholarship may be applied.
Each student must register and take the course as a regular student for credit.
Students will receive all the benefits of being a regular JCU student, including academic advising. Students will be appointed an advisor to help them select courses appropriate to their program of study.
The JCU Registrar will release official transcripts to the student who must sign the FERPA form so that the transcripts may also be released to the Roma Tre Department of Modern Languages (
Collegio Didattico in Lingue e Culture Straniere).
It is recommended that students have the following levels of English proficiency in order to participate in the program:
IELTS 6.5 or above
TOEFL iBT (internet-based) 85 or above
TOEFL (computer-based) 223 or above
TOEFL (paper-based) 563 or above
All applicants must take the John Cabot English Proficiency Test at a cost of €25, which will be covered by Roma Tre.
Roma Tre’s
Collegio Didattico in Lingue e Culture Straniere will make the final decision regarding the awarding of the scholarships.
