Admission to JCU Summer Sessions

  • Be sure to read all the information on Pre-Arrival Information for All Newly Admitted Students. If you are coming to John Cabot (for a summer session only) from the U.S. or Canada, you WILL NO LONGER need a student visa. Recent changes in Italian law state that students coming from the U.S. or Canada and studying for less than 90 days do not need a visa but will have to declare their presence once they arrive at JCU.
  • If you are coming from any other country, check with your local Italian consulate for visa regulations. For further information, please read our Information on obtaining the mandatory Student Visa and Permit to Stay in Italy
  • We strongly suggest that you get personal health insurance (if you don’t already have it) before you travel abroad; bring proof of your insurance with you. You’ll be taken through all of these steps during Orientation Week
  • Plan to arrive on one of the move-in days designated for your Summer Session. If you arrive in Rome before those dates, you must make your own accommodation arrangements until your apartment is available.
Summer I: JCU Housing move-in

Summer II: JCU Housing move-in
  • Get your home advisor’s approval for the courses you wish to take at JCU, so that you are assured they will transfer back home.
  • Make sure you have paid the Tuition Deposit and the Housing Placement Fee by the deadline so that both your place in the program and your housing are guaranteed.
  • Make sure your credit card is valid abroad and that you will have sufficient funds for your stay in Rome.
  • Don't pack a lot of clothes, as you will most likely buy a lot of items when you are here in Rome.
It is vital you read and understand what you need to do before you arrive, and what you need to do as soon as you arrive during Orientation Week.
