Rome is a big city made up of many colorful neighborhoods. I am headed to the nearest open air market. At Campo de’ Fiori, just a five-minute walk from John Cabot, you can find fresh fruit of the season, home made pasta and many other delicacies.
- Buongiorno!
- Buongiorno!
- Quanto costa?
- Quante ne vuoi?
- Due
- Prendile…una, due…..
- Ok
- …ottanta e grazie!
- Grazie!
Hi, my name is Christine Zinker and I’m a visiting student here at John Cabot University, in Rome. It’s a truly unique learning experience, where you can meet students from over forty countries and almost every state in the US. The classes are really small, so that you truly get to know your professors. And the Eternal City is the perfect location to learn both inside and outside the classroom.
I have had the privilege of having two of my classes this semester on-site. There is nothing like learning about the Coliseum when you are standing right inside it!
So today please let me take you on a virtual tour of John Cabot University and Rome.
Today I feel like walking through Piazza Navona before class. It’s my favorite piazza in Rome. I love admiring Bernini’s “Fountain of the Four Rivers,” and checking out the street artists and entertainers who make this square such a vibrant place.
I discover something new every day, simply by walking down a different street on my way to school. Via Giulia…Ponte Sisto…Trastevere
- Hey!
- Hey! How are you?
- Good!
- How was your day?
- It’s been going really well, I am actually giving a virtual tour of campus and Rome. It’s been so much fun.
- So should we get coffee?
- Why not?
- Buongiorno Jesus!
- Buongiorno!
- Ciao
- Ciao, come va?
- What do you want to drink?
- Un cappuccino
- E per me un caffè grazie!
- Perfetto.
- Well, actually after this I have to run back to the Guarini Campus. So would you mind taking over from here and showing everyone the Tiber Campus?
- Of course! Not at all.
- Sounds great! Thank you!
- All right, well, goodbye!
- See you later ok?
- Ciao!
My name is Jesús Hernández and I grew up in Colombia. After living in Germany, Spain, and France, I decided to study in Rome. Now I’m a senior at John Cabot University and my major is Business Administration. It’s been an amazing ride and I will certainly miss my life as a student in the Eternal City. I’m thrilled to show you around my campus!
In addition to modern classrooms, the recently acquired Tiber campus is home to important offices such as Student Services, Student Government, and the Academic Success Program. It overlooks the bustling Tiber River on the outside and the quiet, green courtyards of Trastevere on the inside. It has been completely renovated while still conserving its original historic layout.
Student Life starts from the moment you step out of the airport. Throughout your experience at John Cabot University, we offer you a wide variety of services. We coordinate health, sports, student government, and clubs, as well as orientation.
As a student at John Cabot University, Student Government provides everyone the opportunity to hear their feedback and then to communicate that to the University so that we can make sure that all students’ needs are served throughout their time at the University. It also provides a way for students to connect with each other, and to learn about other activities and opportunities in all aspects of the university.
The Academic Success Program has been designed especially for students who are experiencing some difficulties in academics. For example, we have tutoring labs in writing, math and Italian. We also offer study skill workshops every semester through the Counseling Services of the University. Basically, John Cabot students are never left alone.
The Frank J. Guarini Campus is located in the heart of Trastevere on the grounds of the Italian National Academy of Science. It was founded in 1603 and its most famous member was Galileo. One of the best features of this historic building is its sunlit courtyards and terraces overlooking the city. Here you can study or spend time with friends. You can also find the Frohring Library, the Office of Housing and Residential Life, Career Services, the Admissions Office and the IT Department. Let me see if maybe later I can introduce you to JCU’s President.
Now I’d like to introduce you to Aliki and Giorgio at Housing and Residential Life. They are dedicated to helping you feel at home at John Cabot University and in Rome. From the moment you arrive at JCU, Housing takes care of you, not only by providing you with a roof over your head but a whole support system of Resident Assistants to help you find your niche. That way you can take full advantage of all the resources available here.
In Career Services we talk to all the advisors, to the professors, to the outside world and we put before the student a number of options that they can take in order to improve their skills, their academic standing, and their experience, so that by the time they go to the outside world, they are highly competitive and they can stand on an equal footing with anybody else.
The Admissions Office is your first step to learning about the challenging liberal arts education that John Cabot University provides to students from around the world. Our multicultural and multilingual staff can assist you with any questions you may have regarding majors and programs, transfer credits, student life, or scholarships and financial aid. We will be happy to provide any information you may need. And if you do decide that JCU may be the right place for you, we will help guide you through the Admissions process. Don’t hesitate to contact us!
What we try to do at John Cabot University since 1972 is to bring together a community of outstanding scholars from all over the world, teaching students from all over the world, along the tradition of American liberal arts, in one of the most interesting and dynamic cities of the world. This is really what we try to do, and we feel that the education that we are giving to our students prepares them in a unique and exciting way to live in the global world that we are witnessing today.
- Thanks for taking the time to watch our virtual tour. Now we are almost done.
- But don’t forget: the best part of being in Rome is actually that you can walk on history . . . cobblestones.
- Well excuse me, you’re not the one who has to wear heels around this place.
- Come on! What better classroom can there be than a city with 3,000 years of history? - - - Well, ok I guess I’ll give you that one!
- Anyway, Rome, our campus, and our school are right here for you.
- To learn more about John Cabot University, here in Rome, you can schedule a visit or just drop us an email.
